Since earning his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and English from the University of Denver, Mr. Simas has enjoyed a variety of roles as an educator. He has taught English Language Development, English and Reading at the middle school, high school and adult education levels.
In 1992, he began his career as a Spanish teacher at Oroville High School, where he served until 2013. At that time, Mr. Simas earned a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration from California State University, Chico and left OUHSD to pursue a career in administration. He served as a Vice Principal, Principal and Student Services Administrator until his return home to Oroville in 2016. He currently works as the OUHSD Director of Education.
Mr. Simas and his wife live in Oroville and enjoy spending time with their six children and four grandchildren and their large extended family. Mr. Simas and his wife enjoy travel and have visited Mexico, several countries in Europe and Africa.
